WELCOME to the film festival and 5th Apacheland Days celebration at the base of the uniquely shaped Dinosaur Mtn.
APACHELAND in film was a movie town once located a mile away from the Gold Canyon School on Kings Ranch Road.
Spacious sports field, playground, vendor space, concerts, music, arts.
Apacheland Studios was built 1959 at the base of Dinosaur Mountain!
Traveling from out-of-town festival attendees might consider staying at Gold Canyon Golf Resort (within walking distance of festival) or might consider the Gold Canyon Best Western Inn & Suites as well as the area RV Parks to enjoy the entire festivale including the Apacheland Spirit Awards presentations which celebrates and honors near 50 years of film movie & television history in today's Gold Canyon.
The celebration is held at the spacious Gold Canyon School and sports field grounds and we're just a mile from the Apacheland movie studio grounds where films, Charro, Gamber II, Guns of a Stranger, Arizona Raiders, The Rifleman, Blind Justice, Second Chance, The Broken Land, Death Valley Days, Zane Grey Theatre, The Ballad of Cable Hogue, and Wanted: Dead or Alive, A Time for Dying, Blood on Arrow, Stagecoach West, River of Rage, Dundee and the Culhane, The Haunted, Have Gun Will Travel, and more were shot just a mile away on Kings Ranch Road.
EXHIBITS: See the rare official 1987 Apacheland Scale Model at the film festival and notice the details. Exhibit is a 4ft by 12 ft display built large for Apacheland fans to enjoy looking into the tops of the building; the saloon doors swing open/closed.
Exhibit is equipped with lights. The saloon doors swing open and close and the Charro chapel bell rings for Elvis. The exhibit is the official 1987 Apacheland Scale Model built when the builder lived at Apacheland in 1987 when the town/buildings were still standing. Exhibit is authentic and anything created after the fire, commissioned, or personal would be an imitation.
This scale model was built in 1987 for fans to enjoy Apacheland Studios as it was; in 1987 developers had purchased the property, fortunately, the land sale did not close!
However, this urgency was the motivation in building the 1987 Exhibit Apacheland Scale Model as the Apacheland Fan Club was formed 1984.
In storage for 16 years, the scale model was less important because Gold Canyon still had the real movie town in sight until 2004. After the suspicious fire destroyed the town on "Sweethearts Day," the model remains the official 1987 Apacheland Scale Model built when there were buildings standing on the property. This was not built from looking at photographs but by carefully measuring each window, door, and post and aerial photos taken to complete this rare exhibit.
This exhibit is protected by the Apacheland Historical Society and is the official Apacheland with accuracy. Aerial photos were taken and each building, post, window, door, measurements accurate; the model is rare--built when town/buildings were standing. Celebrate with us!
